10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1).
The one thing that promotes “the glory … of God,” and perhaps the greatest thing that produces “praise of God” among the angels in heaven, is to see “the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ” being born out in the saints of God. To see saved sinners becoming more like the Savior.
In that marvelous “day of Christ,” when we see the angels looking upon Jesus and giving glory and praise to Him, they will also look upon us who have been made like Him — and they will adore Him all the more. For, it is Jesus, the Great Tree of Righteousness, which bore fruit in us bearing that same righteousness. This is why there is joy in heaven when a sinner repents, believes, and is saved. They know more righteousness is ultimately on its way!
Lord, thank You for this great hope of “that day in Christ!” Thank You for the righteousness of Christ we will see in one another — and for the first fruits of that righteousness being borne out even now among us. Help us This Day to walk with this hope fixed firmly in our hearts, living “sincere and blameless” lives. Amen.
