"Your Kingdom Come!"

20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3).

Years ago we sang a song in church called “This World Is Not My Home” …

    This world is not my home, I’m just a-passin’ through;

    My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue;

    The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door,

    And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

Now, I always like this song, yet the song puts the emphasis on a home and angels waiting for us, instead of, as the Bible says here, us who are doing the waiting, and King Jesus on whom we wait, and His kingdom being the destination.  It is always about Jesus and it is always about His kingdom, with us as her citizens.  The question is, just how “eager” am I really to see Him and His kingdom?

Lord, we will all be very busy This Day in this world.  Help us at the same time to be eagerly waiting for You and Your Kingdom.  “Your Kingdom come!”  Amen.
