16 … it is the power of God for salvation … (Romans 1).
There is no greater power than God’s power, and it is displayed in no greater way than in saving sinful man. The same power that created the entire universe out of nothing transforms those who believe into new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17). The same power that sustains the remotest star also keeps from falling any true believer feeling farthest from Him (Jude 1:1). The same power that brought Jesus back to His throne has also seated us with Him in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). The same power that raised Jesus from the dead will also raise us up in glory (1 Corinthians 6:14).
This is why we are not ashamed of the Gospel — it is the very power of God on display. In the same way that no one can create but God alone, no one can save but God alone. And God saves man only through the Gospel — there is no other way.
Oh Lord, I am so grateful for this gospel of Jesus Christ, and the incredibly awesome power that is at work in me even now as I sit here writing this. How could I ever be ashamed of that which has done, is doing, and will do so much for me? Lord, I pray that This Day You would give every member of our church family unspeakable joy in knowing the power of God in their lives — through the Gospel Power at work within them. Amen.
