17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith” (Romans 1).
Every time a believer demonstrates faith, God’s righteousness is also demonstrated. More than that, as the Word says here — a revelation takes place. God’s righteousness is revealed. This is the same word for the name of the last book in the Bible, where a revelation or unveiling of Jesus and (some say) future events was given to John.
To go from faith to faith, walking in a life of faith is nothing less than walking in the righteousness of God. Apart from His holy and righteous Spirit living within us, we could never ever live a life of faith. Not only that, but a true walk of faith always points to the righteous God who condemned the sin of that believer on a cross, and is empowering him or her to die daily to the sins that so easily entangle. Yes, righteous living always points to the righteous God who saves and leads.
Lord, may our faithful living This Day reveal God’s righteousness to unbelievers in such a way that their lostness and lack of righteousness may be revealed to them. Amen.
