Grace and Peace

7 … Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 1).

Without grace there can be no peace — neither peace with God (Romans 5:1) nor the peace of God (Philippians 4:7).  I have peace with God because the Father’s grace has been poured into my life to bring about reconciliation between me, a stubborn rebel, and Him, the longsuffering King.  I have the peace of God because His matchless grace can overshadow every doubt and crush every worry vying for a stronghold in my heart.

Jesus Christ, the gracious Prince of Peace, grants grace for each day I live and peace for each moment I submit to Him.  The soul God owns by His grace, is, by that same grace, always meant to own His peace.  Through His unbreakable covenant with us, we own unbroken peace with God.  Home to His indwelling Spirit, we can be at peace and feel at home, no matter what circumstance comes our way.

Lord, thank You for owning us, so that we may own peace with You.  Thank you for vanquishing our rebellious hearts and bringing peace where there was only enmity.  Thank You also for each and every moment of divine, holy peace we can experience while living in this chaotic and wicked world.  By your grace, may Your peace This Day abound in each of our hearts!  Amen.
