21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe … (Romans 3).
God’s righteousness has been manifested (revealed) through three things: the Law written in stone; the Prophets, who stood firm as stone for God; and all believers in Jesus Christ, whose hearts through faith were turned from stone to flesh (Ezekiel 36:26).
Every single Christian alive (all those who believe) is a living witness to the righteousness of God being revealed to them. They have seen God’s righteousness for themselves, and can testify to its reality. They know God was righteous in condemning their sin with Christ on the Cross; they know God was righteous in showing forgiveness toward them; and every day they witness the righteous of God as He continues to lavish His grace upon them.
But what is this lavished grace doing in us? It is changing us and conforming us more and more to the righteousness of God! Thus, our greatest witness to God’s righteousness, is His righteousness being manifested in the way we live — as we are becoming more and more like His Son (Romans 8:29).
Lord, may our lives This Day be a powerful witness of Your righteousness. May everyone around us see us and marvel at what You are doing in our lives. Amen.
