14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” (Romans 10).
The voice calls upon Christ, because they believe in Him; they believe in Him because they have heard about Him; they hear about Him because someone speaks His name; someone speaks His name because Christ has sent him. This is the holy progression of the gospel: someone’s feet take them to speak the gospel to someone who will have ears to hear the name, a heart to believe in the name, and a voice to call upon the name.
But the feet go because they have been sent — and they have been sent because Christ desires to save. The quote from this verse in Romans is from Isaiah 52:7, but in 52:6 it also says, “Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day I am the one who is speaking, ‘Here I am.’” Thus, it is in Christ’s sending that makes the feet beautiful. Our feet are beautiful only because His are. We proclaim “Christ is here and alive for you,” because God is saying, “Here I am.”
Lord, thank You for sending someone with beautiful feet our way. Thank You for letting Yourself be known to us. We want to have beautiful feet This Day. Send us to someone who would have ears to hear, a heart to believe, and a voice to call upon Your great name. Amen.
