Strength, Not Weakness

5 … Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3).

Men with a fake godliness “enter (literally ‘creep’) into households and captivate” the weakest among them. Often these are women left unprotected by men, with hearts full of guilt, and who are led by their emotions, rather than their minds. Such people are ripe for the picking by godless men with godless ideas.

Weakness is characterized here as solitary, guilt-ridden, and emotion-driven living—none of which we are meant to have. Yet we are not meant to live that way. Rather, we are meant to live in strength, through experiencing fellowship with other believers and with God in a clear conscience and with a sound mind.

Lord, help us This Day to live in strength, not weakness. Amen.
