15 He is the image of the invisible God … (Colossians 1).

If I were to say that John Wayne was a Hollywood icon, most anyone would know exactly what I mean—that when you hear that name you immediately think of a movie star, or you think of westerns, or you think of a man who is really macho.

Well, to say that Jesus is “the image (eikōn) of the invisible God” is to say that when you hear the name Jesus, you should think of God, period. He isn’t just like God—He is God. He is God come in the flesh. He is God the invisible, made visible. He is God the untouchable, made touchable.

Lord, thank You for making Yourself known in human form. Help us This Day to walk with You. Amen.
