Conductor and Music

34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen (Romans 11).

God is the only being in the entire universe and beyond who is completely self-sufficient.  He needs no one to counsel and advise Him concerning anything whatsoever: “for from Him … are all things.”  He needs no help, no quid pro quo relationships in order to accomplish something: “for … through Him … are all things.”  Indeed, the purpose of everything He does is self-glorification : “for … to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.

God is the Supreme Ego-Maniac—and yet He is the only One who can be so and still be sinless.  Indeed, because He is so Supremely Holy in all things, it would be sinful not to acknowledge Himself as such.  Just as it would be categorically wrong to sit silently after a masterful orchestral performance—so is it wrong not to applaud God Almighty, who is not only the Conductor, but the very Music itself.  His Music is so wonderful, it would be categorically wrong for Him never to Conduct it.

Lord, we acknowledge You as both Music and Conductor, and we give all glory to You.  Help us This Day to follow You as our Conductor and to live our lives in harmony with Your beautiful and Holy Music.  Amen.
