15 But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given me from God, 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit (Romans 15).
Paul looked upon his ministry in three ways: 1) it was a ministry based upon the God-given authority of a priest; 2) it was a ministry for the sole purpose of presenting an offering of the Gentiles to God; and 3) it was a ministry totally dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit. It would seem good for any who strive to do anything for the Lord to also assume such an attitude.
Authority, Glory, Spirit—three keys to success in any ministry of the gospel attempted by believers: the gospel we proclaim is based upon the authority of God (not upon our talents), it’s purpose is for the glory of God (not for our own glory), and its success is dependent upon the Spirit of God (not upon us).
Thank You, Lord, for this wonderful reminder to us as we begin another week in service to You. Help us This Day to practice these principles in all we do. Amen.
