Inexpressibly Glorious

8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls (1 Peter 1).

Christians love and believe and rejoice in a Savior whom they have never seen.  Yet, He has made Himself known in such a personal way, that the love is deep, the faith is sure, and the joy is unspeakably glorious.  There is simply no joy like Christian joy.  None.  It surpasses any so-called joy this world has to offer — even the best of the best.

The joy of family and friends cannot match it, nor the joy of personal success and validation.  Indeed, the two greatest decisions in life (marriage and vocation) pale in comparison to the ultimate decision of following Christ, for salvation is infinitely more momentous than these two decisions (or any other) could ever be.  That is why it is easier to put into words the joy of marriage and vocation than it is our salvation.  It is simply inexpressibly glorious.

Lord, thank You for this inexpressibly glorious joy we have in loving You and believing in You.  On This Day may this joy overflow our lives in such a way that people around us cannot help but see it and be drawn to You.  Amen.
