20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. (1 Peter 1).
Before a flock of sheep ever existed, there was already the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world. Before Adam rose from the dust and took his first breath, there was already the Son of Man who would one day save sinners. He came that we might believe in God — and it took Him being raised from the dead for that belief to happen.
These are the facts: we would never have believed in the Father, much less put our hope in Him — unless the Son had appeared, lived, died, and rose again. That’s what it took, and nothing less than that. Nor, for that matter, could there have been anything more that could have been done. The Father and the Son, along with the Holy Spirit, went to the greatest extreme, taking the most acute action, in order to save us and bring us to a knowledge of Him.
Lord, thank You for going to the utmost extreme to save us. Help us This Day to live to the utmost extreme for you. Amen.
