8 So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you (1 Thessalonians 4).
Paul makes it clear that these are not his words and his standards, but God’s—and to reject them is to reject none other than God Himself. And he reminds us that this God being rejected is the same One who “gives His Holy Spirit” to live inside us and direct us.
This word “rejects” means “to lay aside or to turn away.” It is a conscious and willful act of disobedience against the Holy Spirit who will never reject us, never lay us aside, and never turn us away. How could we make light of such a Gift?
Lord, help us This Day to hold fast to the teachings and commands of Your Holy Spirit, who lives within us. Amen.
