9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing (1 Thessalonians 5).
The unmerited favor God offers to His children never falters nor fails. Whether we are found spiritually “awake or asleep” on that great day of His coming, we will indeed be among those whom “God has not destined…for wrath,” but those who will be “obtaining salvation,” and those who will “live together with Him” for all eternity.
Indeed, the greatest encouragement we ever receive is that which is rooted in this wonderful grace of God. Nothing excites us like the grace of God because 1) the grace of God applies to our soul—and nothing is worth more than our soul; and 2) the grace of God has to do with all of eternity—and nothing is worth more than being secure in that.
Lord, again we thank You for Your matchless grace! Help us This Day to live faithfully in that grace and to encourage the brethren with it. Amen.
