10 I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is. 11 But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted (Galatians 5)?
It would appear that those who were (or the one who was) misguiding these Galatians with false doctrine were also lying about it by claiming Paul himself was also advocating circumcision for new believers. This is why he writes: “If I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted?”—meaning that he was certainly not preaching circumcision at all.
It should not surprise us that heretics who preach and teach falsehoods concerning the faith will also use deception and lie about it. They have their own means in mind and also, in their mind, anything will justify those means.
Lord, help us This Day to see through any deception or lies others may try to convince us of concerning our faith. Amen.
